BCL timber cladding panels used at Sheffield Moor Market

Efficient and Sustainable Western Red Cedar Timber Cladding

Following years of struggle, The Moor in Sheffield City Centre underwent a £18 million redevelopment, led by Leslie Jones Architects and developed by Bowmer and Kirkland. This project involved the creation of a 73,000 square ft which consisted of a multi-screen cinema, restaurants, shops, and more to create a landmark building for Sheffield’s main market. The market was designed to be considerate to the existing building whilst also appealing to modern customers with both local and nationwide brands.

Spanning over 496 m2 of the building, Western Red Cedar timber cladding panels were selected as 150x22mm, pre-fabricated in a “basket-weave” design over black Nilvent breather membrane for the external wall timber slat cladding. These wood cladding panels were fitted over 75 x 50 aluminium studs and support brackets and were manufactured off site to save both time and on site waste. As per every BCL timber panel system support was provided throughout the entire process to ensure the work was completed to the highest standard.
