Wall and Ceiling Panel Systems by BCL

Sustainable Acoustic Timber Panels for Optimal Learning Environments

Completed in 2015 and designed by Rivington Street Studio and developed by T & B Contractors, the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine is located inside Caxton House at London South Bank University. This facility provides students with a place to study Chinese Medicine, Language and Culture. The redevelopment expands the existing space with work on both the ground and first floor with accessibility being improved with a new platform lift.

BCL manufactured and supplied the wood ceiling and wall acoustic timber panel system with American White Oak as the selected timber species. Fitted over black acoustic fabric, this Class A acoustic panel system is perfect for a learning environment needing to keep noise to a minimum. The panels have had a 3 coat factory spray to achieve Class 1/0 fire protection. With a total area coverage of 154 m2, the timber ceiling was fitted using our secret fixings, leaving room for LED light troughs. All timber was supplied from PEFC and FSC sources, ensuring it has been bought sustainably and ethically.
