Another Project Win for BCL: 10 Gresham Street

The refurbishment work at 10 Gresham Street in the heart of London’s historic Square Mile is an exciting new project for BCL. The original building has been reimagined by architect Gensler. The work will include the addition of a stunning green terrace rooftop providing panoramic views of St. Paul’s Cathedral and the City’s tall buildings cluster as well as significant internal works, featuring stunning BCL wood ceilings throughout its main reception area.

BCL have been engaged by TMJ Interiors to design, manufacture and install a 300 m2 timber slat canopy to the two-story high atrium reception area in FSC certified Sweet Chestnut. The intricate design places acoustic timber panels in a hexagram star shape radiating from a focal point with concentric circles of integrated lighting, spanning the internal wooden slatted panels. Crucially, our full BIM Level 4 design has allowed for efficient detail development and coordination of integrated services and existing air vents – adding value and maximising project delivery overall for both TMJ & Gensler.

The renovation aims to minimise the building’s embodied carbon through recycling and repurposing of materials and the removal of fossil fuels through sustainable sourcing of timber products, such as BCL’s fully EN13501-1 timber panels. Upon completion, the refurbishment aims to achieve BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum ratings. BCL will be using timber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®). This certification ensures responsible and sustainable sourcing of timber, contributing to environmental conservation and earning Full BREEAM Mat03 credits.
