BCL have recently completed installation of the beautiful charred wood cladding panels at The Oxford Life & Mind Building for Wates Construction. The external timber cladding panels have undergone the traditional Japanese 'Shou-sugi-ban' process, whereby the timber's surface is charred to offer greater durability and fire performance (essentially making the top layer of wood inert). 

BCL wooden cladding panels have been prefabricated off-site using secret fixings, removing any weaknesses to the timbers surface, allowing superior durability and ageing of the timber slats. 

BCL's timber slatted panels were chosen due to the combination of secret fixings, full design service and direct installation offered for an end-to-end delivery for Wates construction. We are also fully FSC certified and offer full systems fire testing to EN13501-1 of our wood panels.
