National Memorial Arboretum
The National Memorial Arboretum
The Arboretum’s new Remembrance Centre, sitting comfortably within its surroundings at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire, was built in order to better serve the increasing number of vistors each year, with new cafe facilities and and interactive learning centre for visting schools.
The external envelope is wrapped in over 1,500 sqm of secretly fixed BCL Timber panels, taking a total of 12 weeks to complete. The cladding uses Siberian larch, in an L-shape profile, with a special 'pre-weathering' grey stain to mimic the colour of already aged timber in order to minimise the colour change across the facade as the building ages.
